THE MYSTERIOUS MAPS OF THE DRUIDS
The Temple of Earth of the Druids in Rennes les Bains comprises the sacred mountain, cultic places and underground complexes. The sacred mountain was lighted by the light emitted from the mirrors and prisms which were arranged in such a way that it was possible for them to intercept the light of the rising sun and to send it in the direction of the sacred mountain. Such a light exposition was designed to expose the figure of Mother of Earth that was situated on the sacred mountain. It could also serve the purpose of lighting the entrance far inside the underground complex, which is situated on the west side of the sacred mountain.
The seats and the fastening of the two mirrors are arranged on the rock edge of the upland of 500 meters that surrounds Rennes les Bains from the west side. In the place where the localisation of the mirrors and of the prisms begins we found a map that was made in a rock. An oval hollow of a small size is hewn out in a rock that is situated on the southern part of the upland, to the east of the temple of light of the Atlanteans, "La Roche Tremblante".
Photo 1 A hollow that is visible here has four exposed directions that are indicated by the lines. They show four most significant aspects of the temple of earth. The eastern direction that is indicated by a vertical line at the same time indicates the place on the sacred mountain where the figure of mother of earth is situated.
The same line in the opposite direction directed to the west indicates La Pique peak. There are on this peak the places where the mirrors that intercepted the first rays of the rising sun were set up.
A line directed obliquely to the back at the right side indicates the temple of light of the Atlanteans that is situated nearby and a rock with the seat of the diameter of about 75 cm that is situated a few meters closer. Then, the line directed to the left indicates the centre of the cultic terrain more than one kilometer long which begins a several dozen meters from this place and extends as a wide belt on the left side, above and below the rock edge of the whole western upland.
Photo 2 A close-up of the map after it was dotted depicts a round area in its upper part. This place on the map is in agreement with the localisation of the sacred mountain of the druids and the signs that are visible on the peripheries of the map are in agreement with the places of the localisation of the light spots.
On the north of the cultic terrain, on the other side of Rennes les Bains in relation to the first map there is a second map of the druids.
What is visible on a big surface of the rock, ( the whole size of the map is 2 per 3 m in its largest width) are the hollows which are arranged in an extremely dense way. Similar hollows to these ones can also be found in nature on different rocks, however here, there are very many of them on a quite small area. Beyond the area of the map on the same rock such hollows can be found only sporadically.
In addition within the area of the map one can see the forms of sculptures that were made by hand on a natural rock rift that exists here and beyond this rift, geometrical shapes that were made by a hand of a man. The map is situated on the rock which is located by the northern entrance way to the cultic terrain. This way had a special meaning for the druid priests and priestesses as there is a series of horizontal signs there. The horizontal signs are situated on each one of the ways but on the northern one there is a whole sequence of them.
I conclude that it served as the place for marking the presence of the priests of different Celtic nationalities at the time of cultic celebratioins. The pits that are visible on the rock indicate in a more or less precise way the localisation of the cultic places that exist on this terrain. We found under the moss that was on the rocks the forms that were made by hand which are the proof of this that the rock was used as the place of cult. We have a photographic documentation of over a hundred of such cultic places that are located here among them there are more than several big altars. We know the localisation of more cultic places, a several dozen of them, what together creates a picture of a very dense cultic terrain. It is so in reality and it is visible in such a way on the map.
The four photos presented below show respectively three fragments of the map and the fourth one shows the further part of the same rock but it is without the pits.
Photo 3 The first part of the map that directly adjoins the path that in the past was the northern entrance way to the cultic terrain.
Photo 4 The second part of the map.
Photo 5 The third part of the map.
Photo 6 The rock beyond the map, one can see an insignificant amount of hollows there.
